BONAIRE ROTARY CLUB CELEBRATES 20th ANNIVERSARY

BONAIRE, N.A. – May 6, 2002 – The Bonaire Rotary Club announced that it celebrated its 20th anniversary in April, and has been commemorating this occasion with several events.

The first event was a celebration dinner party for Rotarians from Bonaire, Aruba, and Curaçao, held on Saturday, April 27th.

Next, the Bonaire Rotary Club made a donation to Bonairian efforts in fighting the abuse of drugs. This was presented in the form of a provision in the amount of NAFl. 10.000,00, which was done by handing over a pro forma cheque to the Governor of the island Bonaire, Mr. R. Hart., during the celebration dinner.

The Bonaire Rotary Club is also in the process of trying to put together a plan to help ensure that children at Bonaire’s primary public schools, get proper nutrition to aid them in attentiveness and mental development.

The Bonaire Rotary Club, part of the over 1,000,000 member Rotary International family of community service organizations, presently consists of 21 members representing the Bonairean business community. Over the last several years, the Bonaire Rotary Club has helped support Ka’i Mimina, the SGB, and constructed a greenhouse and water storage system for the participants of the Pasa Dia project in Rincon. The Bonaire Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm at Rendez-Vous Restaurant.
