BONAIRE ROTARY CLUB TO HOST SEMINAR FOR OTHER AREA ROTARIANS

BONAIRE, N.A. - April 2, 2001 - This coming weekend, April 6-8, 2001, the Bonaire Rotary Club will be hosting fellow Rotarians from Venezuela, Aruba, and Curaçao for the annual Rotary Presidents-Elect Training Seminar and District Assembly. The activities are expected to attract over 40 people to Bonaire, including the present Rotary District Governor for District 4370, Arturo Raul Lara, past District Governor Carlos Bullos, and incoming District Governor Saverio Bertlino, all from Venezuela. Incoming Aruba Rotary President, Alex Nieuwmeyer and incoming Rotary Curaçao President Pimm Blankenvoort are also expected.

Presidents-Elect Training Seminar (PETS) is a training and information program for Rotary club presidents-elect, planned and organized by the district governor-elect in cooperation with the governor. Its main purposes are to motivate incoming presidents in leadership roles in the club, district and RI activities and to emphasize the Rotary International theme for the ensuing year.

The District Assembly is a meeting of incoming club presidents, secretaries and other club leaders in a district - Bonaire's Rotary club, along with Curaçao and Aruba, is part of district 4370, which is based in Venezuela. The District Assembly provides a program of instruction and Rotary information as well as an opportunity to share local and district plans and objectives.

The seminar and assembly will be held at the Divi Flamingo Resort, which is also where most of the visitors will be staying. In addition to several presentations and meetings, and planned activities include island tours to share the beauty of Bonaire with the visitors.

The Bonaire Rotary Club, part of the over 1,000,000 member Rotary International family of community service organizations, presently consists of 24 members representing the Bonairean business community. Over the last year, the Bonaire Rotary Club has helped support Ka'i Mimina, the SGB, and constructed a greenhouse and water storage system for the participants of the Pasa Dia project in Rincon. The Bonaire Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm at Rendez-Vous Restaurant.
