ROTARY CLUB SUPPORTS KA'I MIMINA
BONAIRE,
N.A. - February 19, 2001 -- The Bonaire Rotary Club today
announced that as part of its on-going support of Sister
Sür Swinda Seraus's Ka'i Mimina Fundashon, it handed
over a cheque for NAFl. 5000 to Sister Swinda at a recent
Rotary Club luncheon.
Ka'i Mimina provides services to the elderly of Bonaire in
the form of day time care, meals, and activities. The Bonaire
Rotary Club's donation will pay for the transportation, meals,
and care of five of Bonaire's elderly for a one year period.
This donation is a follow-up on a pledge made by the Rotary
Club last fall, and is the result of weekly contributions each
Rotary Club member makes during the Rotary Club's weekly meetings.
In addition to the recent donation, the Bonaire Rotary Club
also donated the profits of its annual RotaRally, held last
November, to Ka'i Mimina. Those profits amounted to over NAFl.
3000.
"We are so happy that the Bonaire Rotary Club is supporting
our efforts. Bonaire's elderly have much to be thankful for.",
said Sister Swinda after receiving this latest donation from
the Rotary Club.
Last month the Bonaire Rotary Club also donated NAFl. 5000
to the SGB to help it pay the freight costs for a container
filled with school supplies donated by Dutch schools and individuals.
The Bonaire Rotary Club, part of the over 1,000,000 member
Rotary International family of community service organizations,
presently consists of 24 members representing the Bonairean
business community. Over the last year, the Bonaire Rotary
Club has helped construct a greenhouse and water storage system
for the participants of the Pasa Dia project in Rincon, as
well as help distressed fisherman whose boats were severely
damaged or even lost during a freak storm surge a year ago.
The Bonaire Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm at
Rendez-Vous Restaurant. For more information, contact Bonaire
Rotary Club president Richard Dove at 717-2108.
