BONAIRE ROTARY CLUB ANNOUNCES ROTARALLY
Event to Benefit Sur Swinda

BONAIRE, N.A. - November 16, 2000 -- The Bonaire Rotary Club today announced that it would be holding its popular annual RotaRally road rally event on Sunday, November 26th. The RotaRally, which has been a tradition on Bonaire, is a contest where one follows a series of cryptic and intentionally misleading directions, via car, from the rally's starting point at the Stadium around Bonaire to collect "points" for spotting specific markers around the island. The entrants with the most points for accurate direction-following win prizes and trophies. A BBQ will be held at the RotaRally's destination point, namely The Place at Sorobon.

As the Bonaire Rotary Club is a community service organization it should be noted that all profits from this year's RotaRally will go towards a special cause. The cause is Sister Sür Swinda Seraus' Ka'I Mimina Fundashon, which provides services to the elderly of Bonaire. The Bonaire Rotary Club has also recently agreed to help sponsor five elderly members from disadvantaged families for Sister Swinda's program from the next year. Such sponsorship includes paying for transportation, meals, and care of the participants, at a cost of NAFl 1000,- per yer per person. The Bonaire Rotary Club pledged NAFl. 5000 to the program, as a result on weekly donations by each member of the Club during its meetings.

"I have spent years working to help our island's elderly, and the Bonaire Rotary Club has become a major supporter of our works. God Bless the Bonaire Rotary Club!", said an emotional Sister Swinda upon hearing of Bonaire Rotary Club's donation to her efforts and the plans to donate proceeds from the RotaRally.

The entry fee for each car participating in the RotoRally will be NAFl. 25,- per vehicle, with trophies awarded to the top 3 point getters. BBQ tickets will be available at a special price of NAFl. 15,- All profits from the RotaRally entry fees and the BBQ will go to the Ka'I Mimina Fundashon. Donations of additional funds to support these worthwhile causes will be gladly accepted, as well as donations from local businesses to aid in organizing the RotaRally and BBQ. The RotaRally starts at 10:00AM at the Stadium, and it's recommended that ticket be purchased prior to the event, as there is a limit in the number of participating automobiles.

The Bonaire Rotary Club, part of the over 1,000,000 member Rotary International family of community service organizations, presently consists of 24 members representing the Bonairean business community. Over the last year, the Bonaire Rotary Club has helped construct a greenhouse and water storage system for the participants of the Pasa Dia project in Rincon, as well as help distressed fisherman whose boats were severely damaged or even lost during a freak storm surge a year ago. The Bonaire Rotary Club meets every Wednesday at 12:15pm at Rendez-Vous Restaurant. For more information, contact Sara Matera at 717-6621.
